Kaleidoscope Tree Skirt

Kaleidoscope Christmas Tree Skirt

The Kaleidoscope Christmas tree skirt, made from men’s neckties, is the inspiration behind Chicago Lost and Found. Mitch Pennell designed the first skirt in 2004 for another project that ultimately morphed into this not-for-profit organization.

Meticulously crafted in our studios by the creative team, over 250 individual pieces are carefully placed for color balance and consistency. Each piece is numbered and the entire skirt is pinned for precision to sew over 300 seams. One tree skirt demands over 50 hours of skilled sewing and craftsmanship to complete.

Every tree skirt tells a unique story. Cast aside with little to no value, these ties were once carefully selected as fashion statements for important events, weddings, graduations, engagements and power meetings. Through the eyes and hands of our creative team, these forgotten relics are reincarnated into beautiful works of art treasured as a family heirloom for years to come. You’ll want to display this beautiful creation all year. Consider using it as a table overlay for a unique designer accent.

Chicago Lost and Found Kaleidoscope Christmas Tree SkirtThis is the ultimate dressing for your tree especially if you’re a Christmas fanatic. These skirts also grace the trees of more recognized names like Mitch’s Mom, Paula Deen1, and Trisha Yearwood2. Mitch’s Mother has the second tree skirt ever made and proudly displays it every holiday season. (She has yet to pay for it.)

By adding this treasure to your holiday decor, you make a multiple contribution. You help conserve the earth by using materials headed for landfill, create jobs for someone in our organization and you become a part of the education outreach program at Chicago Lost and Found. You’re not just getting something special for your home, you’re giving something wonderful to the world.

Our tree skirts mimic the reflection of a Kaleidoscope. With the slightest turn, the image changes. Though never identical, each masterpiece is similar due to the consistency of colors and patterns in neckties. The image on this page is a fair example of the one-of-a-kind skirt you will receive.

The Kaleidoscope Tree Skirt measures 64″ in diameter with a 7″ opening and lined with a luxurious fabric to compliment the variety of colors in the neckties. Though the back is seldom seen, the finish and detail is as exquisite as the top.  The skirt also features a seamless, snap closure.
